Job Title: CAM Programmer – 5-Axis Machining

Salary: $90,000 – $115,000 (DOE)

With increasing program demand and continued investment in advanced technologies, they are expanding their CAM programming team to support next-generation machining initiatives.
Position Overview
Seeking an experienced CAM Programmer with strong multi-axis machining expertise to support complex part development from concept through production. This role is highly integrated with engineering and shop floor operations, focused on optimizing toolpaths, improving process efficiency, and solving technically challenging machining problems.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize CNC programs using Siemens NX CAM, primarily for 5-axis and mill-turn applications
- Interpret CAD models, engineering drawings, and GD&T requirements to create accurate machining strategies
- Collaborate with engineering and machining teams to support full product lifecycle execution
- Design and implement efficient workholding and fixturing strategies (modular systems preferred)
- Utilize simulation and verification tools to validate toolpaths and prevent collisions
- Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on cycle time reduction, tool life, and process reliability
- Assist in troubleshooting machining and programming issues on the shop floor
Technical Environment
- Siemens NX CAM (multi-axis programming)
- 5-axis & mill-turn machining centers (e.g., Heller, DN Solutions, Hermle, Zayer)
- Modular fixturing systems (Lang, FCS or similar)
- Palletized automation and lights-out manufacturing processes
- Integrated probing and in-process inspection systems
- Digital manufacturing tools within Siemens ecosystem (simulation, digital twin, etc.)
Qualifications
- 5+ years of CAM programming experience in a high-precision manufacturing environment
- Strong proficiency with Siemens NX CAM (required or highly preferred)
- Experience programming complex 5-axis and/or mill-turn components
- Solid understanding of machining principles, cutting tools, and materials (aerospace metals preferred)
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and GD&T
- Experience with simulation, verification, and collision avoidance tools
- Strong problem-solving mindset with a focus on process optimization
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with digital twin technology or advanced simulation workflows
- Exposure to automated machining environments and pallet systems
- Interest in emerging technologies such as AI-assisted manufacturing
