Copper Cell Sort Operator

Location: Hudson, Ohio
Compensation: $17.00–$18.00 per hour

Shift: 6:00am-6:00pm Monday-Thursday 

Position Overview

A growing automotive-component manufacturer in Hudson, Ohio is seeking a dependable Copper Cell Sort Operator. This position is responsible for visually inspecting, sorting, counting, and packaging copper-finished metal fasteners and components.

The operator will separate acceptable and defective parts, maintain lot traceability, document completed quantities, and ensure only products meeting established quality standards move forward in production.

Key Responsibilities

• Visually inspect copper-finished fasteners and metal components according to work instructions.
• Identify coating defects, discoloration, contamination, damaged threads, cracks, burrs, deformation, mixed parts, and other visible nonconformities.
• Compare components against approved samples, photographs, quality alerts, and written specifications.
• Separate acceptable, rejected, rework, and suspect material into properly identified containers.
• Prevent different part numbers, production lots, or materials from becoming mixed.
• Count or weigh sorted components to confirm completed quantities.
• Package, label, and prepare accepted parts for the next production stage or shipment.
• Record quantities inspected, accepted, rejected, scrapped, or returned for review.
• Complete production sheets, sorting records, labels, and other required documentation.
• Notify supervisors or quality personnel when recurring defects or unusual conditions are found.
• Load and unload parts from bins, totes, trays, tables, or work-cell equipment.
• Move materials using carts or pallet jacks when trained and authorized.
• Handle components carefully to prevent damage, contamination, or deterioration of the finish.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe sorting area.
• Follow all company safety policies, PPE requirements, quality procedures, and work instructions.
• Perform other sorting, inspection, packaging, or production-support duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous production, sorting, inspection, packaging, assembly, or manufacturing experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to recognize small visual defects.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Basic counting, weighing, math, and documentation skills.
• Ability to perform repetitive hand movements while maintaining accuracy.
• Comfortable standing, walking, bending, reaching, and handling parts throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds as required.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
• Willingness to work overtime when required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience inspecting automotive fasteners or precision metal components.
• Previous visual sorting, containment, rework, or quality-inspection experience.
• Familiarity with copper-coated, plated, or finished metal parts.
• Experience using counting scales, gauges, approved samples, or basic inspection tools.
• Experience maintaining lot traceability and completing production records.
• Pallet-jack or material-handling experience.
