Overview

We are seeking a skilled Field Fabrication Technician to join a leading global manufacturer of industrial capital equipment. This organization specializes in highly engineered thermal processing systems used across automotive and general manufacturing industries.

This role is ideal for a mechanically inclined professional with strong fabrication, welding, and equipment assembly experience who thrives in hands-on, field-based environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, and align industrial machinery and equipment at customer sites
• Fabricate, modify, and repair mechanical assemblies (new and existing systems)
• Perform welding (MIG & stick) on mild steel and alloys
• Install threaded pipe and perform tube bending
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, combustion, and piping systems
• Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to execute builds and installations
• Use precision measuring tools to establish centerlines, clearances, and alignments
• Operate fabrication equipment (band saws, press brakes, shears, etc.)
• Move and position equipment using cranes, hoists, dollies, and forklifts
• Conduct system testing and verify proper mechanical operation
• Provide detailed field reports including progress updates, timelines, and open issues
• Travel domestically to customer sites; support shop/field work when not traveling

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 2+ years of experience in fabrication, assembly, or industrial equipment installation
• Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on troubleshooting experience
• Proficiency in welding (MIG and stick)
• Experience working with industrial electrical systems (basic to intermediate)
• Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring tools
• Experience operating fabrication machinery (shear, press brake, band saw, etc.)
• Experience with cranes, forklifts (Hi-Lo), and material handling equipment
• Ability to install piping systems and bend tubing

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with industrial standards such as AMS 2750, CQI-9, or NFPA 86
• Experience working with heat treat equipment or similar high-temperature industrial systems
• Prior field service or travel-based technical experience
